최근 발사체 재사용, 달 탐사 등 다양한 우주 미션들이 대두됨에 따라 추력을(x) 조절 가능한 가변추력 엔진의 필요성이 제기되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 기체메탄-액체산소 400N급 연소기에 대해 100~20%까지 추력조절 가능한 전기모터 구동 이중 슬리브 방식 핀틀 인젝터를 설계 및 제작하였다. 면적이 고정된 인젝터는 저추력 영역에서 분열성능 저하로 인한 연소효율 저하 또는 고추력 영역에서 인젝터 차압의 과도한 증가 등의 문제가 있어 추력 변경 범위가 제한적이다. 따라서 추력을 5배까지 변경 가능한 Deep Throttling을 달성하기 위해서는 분사면적 조절이 가능한 인젝터가 필수적이다. 본 연구에서는 산화제와 연료의 면적을 독립적으로 조절하기 위해 슬리브를 이중 동축형으로 설계하였다. 기체 유로의 크기 조절을 위해 수직으로 움직이는 경사진 슬리브를 적용하였으며, 기어와 나사산으로 슬리브의 위치를 조절하였다. 또한 극저온 환경을 대비하기 위해 energized seal을 적용하였다. 제작된 인젝터로 수류 시험을 수행해 throttling 제어가 가능함을 확인하였다. 

 

For various space missions such as reusable launch vehicle and lunar exploration, thrust variable engine is needed. In this paper, 20~100 % range throttleable LOX-GCH4 400 N class model combuster is designed, using electric-motor driven double sleeve type pintle injector. 
Fixed area injector shows poor atomization and combustion performance in low thrust region or requires too much injector pressure drop in high thrust region. Thus, to achieve deep throttling, varying thrust in range of 5, variable area injector is necessary. To control the area of fuel and oxidizer flow passage independantly, coaxial double sleeve was designed in this paper. Vertically moving canted sleeve was used to modify the area of fuel passage. Position of sleeves were precisely controlled with gear and thread systems which were actuated by electric motor. Energized seal was used to prevent leakage under cryogenic condition. Throttling control possibility was checked by cold flow test.
